Free Meals for Furloughed Workers 2025: Tomasita’s & Atrisco

As the government shutdown continues, two beloved New Mexico restaurants are stepping up to help their neighbors.

Beginning Saturday, November 1, Tomasita’s restaurants in Santa Fe and Albuquerque and Atrisco Cafe & Bar will offer free meals to furloughed federal employees and their families.

Federal workers simply need to show a federal employee or contractor ID to receive their complimentary meals.

“These federal workers are part of our community and our good customers,” said George Gundrey, owner of Tomasita’s and Atrisco Bar & Café. “Right now they could use some support. We’re happy to do what we can to support our friends and community who have no income at this time.”
