Albuquerque doesn’t have the monopoly on balloon festivals, and Angel Fire isn’t just known for great skiing and terrain parks. Balloons Over Angel Fire is a three-day event which is one of the few high-mountain hot air balloon events in the country that doesn’t have huge crowds and costly fees. Balloons Over Angel Fire takes place at the Angel Fire airport, over Father’s Day weekend June 13 – 15, 2025, 7 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Dozens of Hot Air Balloon Over the Moreno Valley
Watching 30+ hot air balloons rising gracefully into the cool morning air of Moreno Valley is a sight not to be missed. The size of the event gives it an intimate appeal, particularly for those who have an interest in the sport. Pilots and their crews are generally very approachable, so learning how the magnificent gas bags work is as easy as asking a few questions.
Other Events & Volunteer Opportunities
Other events within the event include chairlift rides, a benefit golf tournament, a mountain bike race, free music in Frontier Park on Friday night, and the Balloon Glow on Saturday night.
If you’re feeling really productive, balloon pilots are always looking for volunteers to help inflate, chase, and deflate the balloons each day. Just show up early at the launch field – no later than 6:30 a.m. – and make your desires known. In return, pilots have been known to offer a free ride for your help.
Up, Up & Away!
Admission is free for this event. Lawn chairs and tailgate parties are encouraged. Visit the Angel Fire Chamber of Commerce website for information about Balloons Over Angel Fire, including a full schedule of events.
