Continuing education courses are a great way to improve job skills, enhance knowledge for hobbies, or just learn about something that piques your interest! One opportunity for lifelong learning is through Santa Fe Community College’s Continuing Education program.

“We’ve got a great selection of classes. Many of CE’s popular instructors are back as well as new instructors,” said Kris Swedin, director of Continuing Education and Contract Training. “There’s a mix of in-person classes and online classes. There are classes you can enjoy in an outdoor setting, as well as in a classroom or online.”
Explore your creativity with music and art
Want to explore your creativity? Consider taking Michael Long’s acrylic painting classes. For these classes, no previous experience is required and yet, even beginners will be able to enjoy painting and self-discovery in a supportive atmosphere. Join jazz musician and composer Lenny Tischler in an exploration of the history of jazz and the social and political conditions that influenced this music. There are also many other classes to develop your artistic skills.
On Thursdays this September there are engaging online classes, which will explore the life and artwork of Frieda Kahlo. Also, find and develop your singing voice while practicing online.
Discover the joys of the region’s geology and history
Enjoy learning about the geology of our region with Kirk Kempter on a variety of hiking trips or online lectures. William Neuwirth, a biologist and naturalist, will lead online classes as well as offer a hiking excursion.
Learn about the railroad history of New Mexico and how railroads were influenced by manifest destiny, world wars, the Harvey Era, and economic disasters over more than 100 years. Fred Friedman, instructor, has more than 30 years of experience working for the New Mexico Railroad Bureau and has a passion for railroad stories. You can enjoy his classes online.
Gain business and career skills
Whether you’re looking for professional development opportunities or want to break into the “New Collar” workforce, you can choose from a variety of options. There are dozens of classes offered either online or in person.
For in-person classes, strict COVID-19 safety protocols will be followed. Masks are required on campus.
